Final Exam Review

Due to the presentation schedule, we do not have class time for a final exam review. Let's see how it goes to have Q&A via the blog. Please also note that I have office hours on Tuesday afternoons and am available on other days by appointment.

What chapters from the textbook should we have read for the final? I know we got somewhat off track with the syllabus, so I am not sure?

We only missed two readings:

DDS: Chapter 8, Women in the Executive Branch
W: The Executive Branch: Women and Leadership

Everything else is fair game. A study guide will be posted on Bb later this morning.

Other questions?

Wow - still no questions?

Can you tell me what the acronyms BANANAs and LULU mean. I know NIMBY is "not in my back yard". I will probably have more questions, but I have been swamped.

Thanks,
Janice

LULU = Locally Unwanted Land Use.

BANANA = Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything or Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anyone.

I'm a little confussed about the "women in the judiciary" portion. Do we need to know specific women in the judiciary? i.e. Sandra Day O'Connor, or do we need to focus on trends etc.? I must have missed that lecture because I do not remember discussing that at all.

Thanks!

Look at Chapter 9 in DDS. No, I'm not looking for specific information about specific female judges. I want you to be able to answer "big picture" questions about women in the judiciary (e.g., does it matter if a judge is male or female - why or why not?). We discussed this chapter briefly during Week 10, immediately following Spring Break. That was also sexual harassment week though and we ended up spending most of lecture and discussion time on that topic.
